I am only writing this here in case the devs actually take time to read the forums. Is this game going to be Steam only? If it is, I will not be buying it. I have long since stopped 'buying' games on Steam. All the games I have on Steam that are also on GoG have been replaced with GoG purchases.
I am no longer going to spend money on games that some company tells me are not mine. Also I am no longer buying games with DRM of any kind. If this game is put on GoG or even made available on the Taleworlds website, I will buy it. On Steam I will not buy it for even $1. Of course purchasing it presupposes it will be a good game. If it is not, then there will be no purchase. Originally posted by squirtikiss:I am only writing this here in case the devs actually take time to read the forums.

If it is not, then there will be no purchase. Yeah you download a digital copy stored on an external server. 6 years later OMG I don't have access if the server goes down noooooooooo scam!!!!!! This wasn't completely obvious immediately too anyone with a brain.

No one can stop you from playing the game even if Valve goes bankrupt in 5 years. I will suggest to always buy games from the developr their site tho, just because Valve already has enough money ^^.
Correct just not through steam since you are specifically buying the right to access the game through their servers, ipso facto their server goes down bye bye game. It doesn't work that way the game installs on your PC, all what Steam is in a platform and a kind of DRM service. If you go in offline mode you can play the game. You can even bypass the steam service completely sometimes if you launch directly from the folder for example lauching the directx 9.exe file you will just bypass Steam completely. It will say you aren't playing a game while you are playing it. You are buying the game to own it digitally on your PC nothing to do with rights. I can argue with you that you borrow a disk, because disks have a life spam in theory and digital not.
(specially on consoles) There is a reason why there are laws for digital distrubution because at the end it's still a product you buy and own. But it's everyone their choice not to buy or play on Steam it's the beauty of PC gaming so many choices ^^^. Nope it will be a Non steam code that may or may not be activated on steam, your choice. And activating it on steam doesn't stop you from playing without steam if you choose. ' All games you buy can be activated on Steam. For questions regarding the sales process please take a look at our Sales FAQ.' From TW site.
I never said I hate Steam. I just said I am not going to buy from them again. Games I buy from GoG I burn to disc and therefore own it for good. And ya, I know about digital rights. But how many times have game companies gone into private homes and stolen hard copies from the owners? Games are the same as books and movies.
They may say they have the rights, but once you buy it and have it in your home, they cannot be taken. I am hoping TW dispenses Bannerlord in the same manner as the previous ones, minus Steam activation. But as long as they provide the no-Steam codes as before, I will still buy it.
Yes, Steam has said they will make games able to be played if Steam goes defunct. But do you believe that? I believe only that they might do so. Also, when one eventually has to install a new HD, Steam offline is not going to work without reinstalling Steam.
I plan on moving in a few years to a place where I will not have internet or have very slow internet. Steam will no longer be viable for me. I also buy games directly from the developer or publisher when I can. This allows the money to go where it should go and I also can burn them to disc as I did with Torchlight and others. I also make copies of my copies so I always have a clean one to copy again if I damage my original copy.

Great, multiple outdated copies of 10 year old games laying about that probably will no longer even work on the OS or hardware you will have by the time steam ever shuts down. Worlds digital now, gotta move with the times dude.
